Built on the foundation of an immense interest in and love for the history and archaeology of Zimbabwe, Hubbard’s Historical Tours specialises in leading tours with a difference around the country.
We’ve gained a loyal following in Bulawayo with our entertaining, well-researched historical dinner talks, Bulawayo of Yesteryear walking tours and Prospector’s pub crawls and, most recently, the appropriately-named Marvellous Makokoba Tour which explores the parts of the city less travelled by tourists and even many locals: the high density suburbs which form a significant and vibrant part of the city’s historical past.

HHT also leads tours exploring the history and heritage of Zimbabwe further afield, ranging from the World Heritage Sites of Great Zimbabwe and Khami, to the battlefields of the 1893 Anglo-Ndebele War, as well as the many museums and art galleries across the country. Evocatively named tours like Spirits and Stones, The Destroyers and The Land of Strangers hint at the intrigue and fascination that awaits the adventurous visitor.
Collaboration, culture and community care are the hallmarks of the company, and since its formation HHT has worked to raise funds through its events for Dete Old Age Home, the Zimbabwe Academy of Music, Entembeni Old Age Home, the Bulawayo Public Library and the Bulawayo Help Network while, at the same time, supporting various artists and writers through events promoting their work.
Our vision, and one which we feel we are well on our way to realising, is to become Zimbabwe’s leading historical and cultural tourism company.

Sustainable Tourism
With community at the heart of our vision for HHT, there are some of the organisations we care about. Please check them out, follow them on social media and contact us, or the organisations direct, if you would like to find out more about the work they do or how you can get involved.

Book Review Article
I must confess that I found this a frustrating book. I bought it in the hope that it had something new to offer on the debate as to the origins and development of the largest prehistoric structure in southern Africa. The dust-jacket promised much, not least the use of “incontrovertible DNA evidence” to show previously unsuspected links among ancient populations. There was also a promise of a discussion of the suppression and distortion of the “truth” about the site. Sadly this book does not fulfil these noble intentions and instead adds yet another volume to the Romanticists library.
